17 Years Celebrating Ontario Wines!

Niagara Chapter's 5th Year Anniversary in 2008!

The Ontario Wine Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 that celebrates the exploration of Ontario wines, through informal, enjoyable and educational tastings and special events. Currently, we have two chapters, one serving the Toronto area and the other serving the Niagara Peninsula area.

We invite you to accompany us as a member or guest on our potable journey through Ontario's and the world's vineyards.

What The Ontario Wine Society Offers

Wine Tastings

Each chapter holds 8 to 10 per year. Each tasting is built around a theme.

Recent Tastings Include:

  • Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio Comparison
  • The Great Pinot Noir Clone Debate
  • Bordeaux vs. Ontario
  • The "Outer Limits" of Ontario Wine
  • New Kids on the Block

Each guided tasting:

  • In Toronto, is normally held at The Faculty Club, University of Toronto, 41 Willcocks Street (Spadina & College area).
  • Takes place on a weekday, from 6:30 p m to 8:30 pm.
  • Features 8 Ontario wines, or wines from both Ontario and other wine regions of the world.
  • Is accompanied by plates of gourmet morsels, in Toronto, courtesy of the creative cooks at The Faculty Club and in Niagara, prepared by various local caterers and winery chefs.
  • Allows you to try something new, often wines not available at the LCBO.
  • Is led by an industry expert - a winemaker, a wine writer or other professional.
  • Is cost-friendly. As a non-profit organization, our aim is to allow you to try an extensive variety of high-quality wines at a reasonable price.

The Ontario Wine Society celebrates the wonderful wines of Ontario, Canada.

Special Wine Related Events

Each year we offer a number of special events, mixing Ontario Wine Society favourites with new adventures.

Events have included our annual "Wine and Dine" gourmet dining evening, an Icewine Weekend in Niagara, learning to cook al fresco on a restaurant patio in Toronto's entertainment district and a wine tour in the Niagara Peninsula.
