Description
Rosehall Run has become one of those wineries that I find myself eager to find out what they are up to. Winemaker, Dan Sullivan, is a purist, and wants to continue to grow and use his own fruit (or at least as much Prince Edward County fruit), in his wines as possible. This wine is made with over 60% county fruit: all the Riesling (46%), most of the Erenfelser (49%) and some of the Gewurztraminer (5%) is from county growers. The Sullyzwicker has been an annual favorite at the winery since they opened (I believe this is their third stab at it) – the blend changes each time but it is a fun wine for the hot months. Citrus, apple, peach and honey greet the nose with a mainly peach palate. You’ll also find a good steady stream of acidity in this year’s batch. Clean, crisp and age-worthy - that's right, Dan suggests putting a little time between bottles consumed with this one, instead of the usual “drink now style” of previous years, Dan kept the acidity pretty high so that you could lie this one down for a year or two and still reap the benefits of great taste.
