The Grange of PEC 2006 Trumpour’s Mill Rosé

DescriptionDescription  Seems like this year everybody is jumping on the rosé bandwagon. A friend of mine, who makes wine for a living, explained that his winery didn't get to pick one of its varieties in time because of the sudden and persistent rains that befell the 2006 harvest; therefore some of the fruit wasn't in pristine condition for making high impact reds, so the thinking became “why not try a rose”. This just might be the same case at many wineries throughout the province. And the decision seems to be benefiting a lot of patio-dwellers who dig the pink stuff. This rosé is made from Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir, has strawberry, raspberry and bubble gum aromas, with a light citrusy taste that’s primarily grapefruit. I found it to be light and pleasant with a dry finish that bit back with a tang of acidity. You'll be happy to know that you'll be able the pick this one up at Vintages in the coming months (Fall 2007).
