Description
Here we have a scrumptious smelling and tasting wine that goes well in the heat. In the past, at Tawse, the Musque grapes were poured in with the regular Chardonnay, which gave it a slightly sweet smell and taste. This year Tawse singled out the variety on a last minute whim and ended up with an unexpected winner. Chardonnay Musque is a relative to the Chardonnay grape and produces aromatic wines with great tropical and/or tree fruit notes, both in taste and smell. This wine from Tawse is no exception; and because it was a last minute decision to separate the Musque, the grapes went through the rigorous selection process and crop thinning that all the Tawse grapes go through. The nose explodes with fresh, sweet, almost over-ripe, pear along with some floral and peach notes; the taste comes through with Delicious apple as the predominant flavour. The best part is the tongue soaking effect of the wine: the flavours seem to soak into your tongue as a sponge absorbs water, and after you swallow the liquid you get to squeeze out the flavours … making for a long luscious finish. Patio or anytime, this is a tasty delivery from Tawse and a real coup of a last minute decision. A limited test batch was made this year and due to its overwhelming success more is expected to be made next year; as for this year’s version, it’s selling out quickly.
