Description This Riesling is so simple it’s scary, yet so delicious it’s wonderful. The simplicity starts right at the label with it’s single burgundy line that aimlessly makes it’s way around the bottle. The only picture to grace the label is a simple childlike house drawing … simple, clean, modern – which parallels the wine inside. Norm demands high quality Riesling fruit, which he painstakingly nurtures from his home in Prince Edward County – while the fruit itself grows on Niagara’s Beamsville bench (he travels roughly 16 times a growing season to Niagara in order to monitor his babies). Norm’s exacting standards and attention to detail show through in the bottle – and your palate is the beneficiary of his hard work. When making this Riesling, he leaves the wine on the lees for 6 months, thus allowing the flavours of the wine to deepen, while giving it softer more subtle aromas. Apples, pears, limes, nectarines and passionfruit rise up from the glass and lovingly greet your nose; and the taste does not disappoint. Lots of lime and grapefruit are the main citrus flavours – but there’s also a lingering sweetness that happens somewhere in the mid-to-back palate that leads to a red-pear finish and a long-lingering lime aftertaste. Good balance between the sweetness and acidity makes this a great wine to drink anytime. Only 400 cases were made, it might sound like a lot, but it’s flying out of Norm’s warehouse very quickly; so be sure to get your hands on a bottle, or two, of this light, long and lovely wine. Plus, you can lie this one down for 5-plus years and watch it develop further.
