Viewpointe Estate Winery 2005 Riesling

DescriptionDescription  Viewpointe’s wine store is finally open. Viewpointe is a beautiful property that overlooks Lake Erie and has so much potential – and trust me they are making every effort to take advantage of it. It has the makings of being the showcase winery for the area, but we’ll save that assessment for another day and instead talk here about the wine; Riesling to be even more specific. The 2005 Rieslings in Niagara proved to be exceptional, now it’s time to try something from the other side of the province. This one’s fresh and lively with plenty of citrus and peach on the nose. In the mouth, it truly shines, with minerally-citrus flavours, soft acidity and an easy drinking style … and I can’t forget to mention the long melon finish – nice! Rumour has it that leaving it open for a day before drinking, enhances both the aromas and tastes.
