Colio Wines 2002 Gewurztraminer

DescriptionDescription  As a general rule, Gewurztraminers don’t have a long shelf life, they’re one of those wines best served young and fresh, which is what makes this one such a surprise. Four years away from harvest, the nose is still lively with plenty of green apple, peach, cantaloup and kiwi. Unfortunately, the taste does not deliver the exotic fruit salad of the nose’s promise. The fruit tastes have softened and smoothed over time, giving way to petrol, lanolin, and some muted fruit flavours. The nose is terrific, the taste is a little tired, but still not ready to give up the ghost. Drink by year’s end or at the very latest, beginning of next summer.
