Mill Street Brewing Company Barley Wine

DescriptionDescription  I came across this brew while down in the Distillery district of Toronto where the Mill Street Brewpub is located. I tried a number of beers that day, but something about the name of this one just appealed to me “Barley Wine”. It was explained to me that “Barley Wine” is not a wine at all, it’s a strong beer made in the winter time and requires long ageing in the making process – it can also be aged for an extended period of time (that’s its parallel to wine). The nose is hoppy and malty, reminiscent of buckwheat honey and elderflowers. The honey taste follows in the mouth, sweet and bitter at the same time … and the packaging is cool, really cool: a clay bottle with Grolsch top (beer drinkers will know what I mean), best part is, you can drink part of the 500ml vessel and save the rest for later. This beer is in limited supply down at the Brewery, so hurry if you’re gonna get a few.
NotesNotes  Available at the Brewery only for a limited time (Nov & Dec)
