Description
Lailey makes two kinds of Syrah, one in Canadian oak and this one, made using a 50/50 split of French and American oak. Derek Barnett, winemaker, make his Syrah’s for the long haul, that’s why right now you’ll find more than average heft in this bottle, but give it 3-5 years and this baby will smooth right out. Currently, you’ll find lots of smoked meat characteristics on the nose along with a little white pepper, oak and some wet stone. On the palate it’s all peppery and tannic … but as I said, give it 3-5 years and she’ll come around. Have no fear about being exact with that 3-5 year mark; this wine’s got the stuffing to easily last 7.
