Description I'm writing this review after the 2008 Grammy awards have been handed out and this evening I've tried so much wines I’m thinking about joining Amy Winehouse in rehab - but no, no, no, wait just a minute I have another recommendation for you before I shuffle the Betty Ford clinic, or some other such “spa”. Winemaker Derek Barnett has crafted some fine Chards in his day and many have stood the test of time - here's yet another. Made from the old Lailey Chard vines, this wine spent fourteen months in French oak. A nose rich with vanilla and butter, touches of cinnamon and caramel along with herbs and some herbaceous notes. In the mouth it continues with the buttery, woodsyness, over-ripe apples, other tree fruits and some bite from the high acidity. This one still needs some time to come into its own and when it does it’ll hold for the next five to seven years. Oh, and while I'm sitting contemplating which center to call I'm still tasting that long spicy-toffee finish ... ah, forget it, Amy’s right, think I’ll pop the cork on another bottle instead.
