Description
The plan, according to John Howard (owner of the Megalomaniac brand), is to make wine that tops out, price-wise, at $24.95, “because good Ontario wines should not be anymore than that” (at this time). This Cab Sauv is like chewing a stick of Big Red, not just for the cinnamon flavours that come through but also for the big red (and black) fruits that come out on both the nose and taste. There’s little in the way of oak influence here – meaning woodsy smells or flavours – but there is a fair amount of tannins that could use a little settling down time. I’d wait a couple of years, then pop the cork before 5 more go by.
