Featherstone 2007 Old Vines Riesling

Author :Michael Pinkus - Grape Guy
DescriptionDescription  I was a big fan of this wine last year, that was the first time Featherstone separated their old vines from their other Riesling plantings, and made a specific ‘old vines’ wine. In its second incarnation, it is just as wonderful a wine as the first time – maybe even better. The nose seem more exotic, with peaches, floral and citrus mixing in subtly with mineral and wet stone smells. In the mouth, you can taste who’s in the driver’s seat for this wine – those mineral flavours are all over the tongue, with melon on the front palate, lemon zest picking up the ball in the mid, and what some would call, a bitter wet stone bite on the finish. We’ll call it acidity, but with it’s medium-short finish, it’s there and then gone – very refreshing. Price: $16.95
