Description
After much controversy over the viability and marketability of Gewurztraminer in Ontario it would seem that our wineries and winemakers have finally started to embrace this grape with many fine examples on winery shelves. I can think of three great ones off hand … Featherstone, Henry of Pelham and this one from Cave Spring; a beauty in every sense of the word. The nose is pure Gewurztraminer: spicy, rose petal, floral, a touch of petrol with tropical fruit hints hiding in the back. There’s also great mouth presence here – with those same smells repeating as flavours in the mouth, all wrapped up in a medium-dry package with length on the finish to spare. As Don Cherry would say, “it’s a beauty.” Price: $ 19.95
