Description
2007 was a great vintage year - and that's great with a capital G but when talking with winemakers, there's always one grape that over-performs and one that under-performs. In 2007, the under-performer was Riesling - a usual staple for Ontario's wineries. It was just too hot for this cool weather loving varietal. That said, winemaker Ron Giesbrecht has done a masterful job with this wine, making it delicious as well as affordable. There's a lot of nice mineral and green apple notes with great balancing acidity on the palate, there is no sign of petrol, yet, but it's coming, no doubt. A beautiful fruit and mineral driven Riesling that doesn't leave the palate with a sweet sensation. Price: $13.25 Rating: ****½
