Description
Gamay is just a super-friendly kinda wine … it appeals to serious red drinkers, red dabblers and serious white drinkers too, because of it’s fresh, fruity and lively nature on the tongue. Gamay is right in-line with Valpolicella and simple Chilean Merlots as the wine die-hard white drinkers can turn to when they wanna make the leap to reds. Here Peller helps bridge the gap between simple red and complex red by putting this Gamay in 50% oak (new and used) and 50% tank (stainless steel). The result is still a chillable red, but with some oak spiciness (namely pepper). Red fruit dominates the nose; cherries in the mouth and a raspberry finish – with just a dash of pepper on the side. Not for sticking in the cellar for any lengthy time period, but a couple of years would do fine; so if you wanna keep enjoying this for the 2008 and 2009 summer months, go ahead.
