Barnyard Wine Company 2007 ‘3630’ Chardonnay

Hits:1878
Rating:5,00 (2 Votes)
Date added;:22.Dec.2009
Author :Michael Pinkus - Grape Guy
DescriptionDescription  This is one of those wines I tried during the Prince Edward County 2nd Wave dinner (see On the Road with the Grape Guy for the write up – December 5, 2009), and was my favourite Chardonnay of the evening. The name ‘3630’ refers to the planting of the vineyard (36 x 30 vines per acre). The wine is aged 9 months in French oak with an additional 12 months of ageing in bottle. I was not surprised to hear that Huff’s winemaker Frederic Picard consulted on the making of this wine because it had a certain je-ne-sais-quoi-savoir-faire to it. The nose is rich in butterscotch, almond and toasted vanilla, while the palate delivers harmonious weightiness and good acidity making it crisp and delicious full of fresh apples and buttered almonds. Price: $28.95 – Rating: ****½
