	Peninsula Ridge 2002 Cabernet This wine has a “je ne sais quoi” quality to it, mainly because those with whom I tasted it couldn’t put our collective fingers on just exactly what it was that we liked about it – except that we liked it very much. Could it be the black cherry or the sweet red and yellow pepper nose; maybe it was the raspberry, cranberry and dark fruit laden taste. Maybe it was the easy drinking nature of the wine; the smooth spiciness in the mouth, or how it didn’t seem too dry, but definitely not sweet eit... Rating: Nº votes [Hits: 129 ]
	Willow Springs 2005 Baco Noir This is not the full, hearty, foxy Baco we’ve all come to expect from this grape. Nor is this a clone of the 2003 version … Willow Springs continues to experiment with it’s homegrown grape to see what can be done with it. There version of Baco is lighter and more fruit forward than most, this is due to the limited amount of skin contact between the skins and the juice, which they minimize to a few days instead of weeks or months. 	Willow Springs 2004 Baco Cabernet Franc Willow Springs has been making a name for themselves with their light and fruity tasting Baco Noir grown on their own property up in Stouffville. By the same token, year after year, their Cabernet Franc has shown great promise … so it was only a matter of time before they blended these two stars together. And I think they have a winner here. 	Hillebrand Winery 2002 Trius Cabernet Franc I once had a girlfriend that told me “I like my men like I like my wine, big, rich and powerful.” Needless to say we did not last long; but she would have loved this wine, and so will you if you have a little patience: because it’s big, rich, and powerful, but unlike my ex, it’s one you can really grow with. At this point it’s still a little closed, but in the right glass, and with some decanting, you can see where it’s going. Fruity, green pepper, light raspberry, and a good oaky nose; foll... 	Mike Weir Estate Winery 2004 Pinot Noir Mike’s Pinot has a wonderful strawberry, blackberry and black current nose that is best described as interesting and inviting. The taste has some mild strawberry with raspberry and a hint of earthiness. Dry on the finish, this wine is fuller and more robust than you’d expect from a non-reserve Pinot … with just a little bit of bite at the end. A great first effort from this new winery....
