	Harbour Estates Winery 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Here’s another strong wine from a strong vintage, with a totally unexpected surprise … faux-sweetness. Mint, yellow pepper and sweet red fruit accosts the nose – maraschino cherry is the closest approximation. Which translate on the palate to the sweet taste of cherries along with some blueberries and blackberries – the surprise of course is the sweet cherry taste for a wine ranked at a zero, making this wine a delicious pairing with lighter food and pizza, or even better yet, on it’s own. 	Harbour Estates Winery 2002 Cabernet As we all now know the 2002 Vintage in Ontario, especially for reds, was blockbuster – and the wines are now starting to really come into their own. Case in point is this ’02 Cabernet from Harbour Estates, with lots of pleasure for the nose and suppleness in the mouth. The smells are green pepper, black pepper, raspberry, plum and dark chocolate. 	Harbour Estates Winery 2004 Petit Verdot/Malbec This is the tale of two wines … a wine that needs a little time in the bottle, a decanter, or a really good glass (see newsletter #23) versus a wine you pour straight into a standard glass and wonder why. In a standard glass it was tight, oaky, smokey, peppery and harshly tannic … but in our Cabernet Spiegelau glass it opened up with luscious sweet fruit and smooth succulent tannins: so let’s talk about that wine. 	Colio Wines 2002 CEV Barrel Aged Cabernet Franc A perfect expression of what Cabernet Franc can be. From the wonderful 2002 vintage (are you tired of hearing that yet?) which saw a short spring, long summer growing season and optimal conditions for grapes (perfect temps, excellent ripening), all coming together to make a wonderful vintage.
