	Smith and Wilson 2007 Riesling I have never before got such a strong smell and taste from a wine as I did with this one, so I passed it over to a friend of mine and asked if she would like to give me her impressions … Together, we smelled pineapple juice, fresh ripe pineapple juice. 	Reif Estate 2007 Riesling Somedays you just want a wine that you can settle back down with, mellow out with, and not worry about how taxing it is going to be on your palate. We’re talking this Reif Riesling. It has plenty of lemon on the nose, with a light apple scent in the background; while in the mouth, there’s Granny Smith apple and lemon tartness that pleases and tickles the palate with it’s flavours and good seam of acidity. 	Peller Estates 2007 Private Reserve Pinot Gris Pinot Gris is a popular grape these days, but there still is confusion between Gris and Grigio. When I tell people it is the same grape done in different styles, or say that it is Italy’s version of Pinot Gris, some still don’t get it. Just to clarify, it is in the same vein as the Syrah / Shiraz … and if you don’t get that then I can’t help you – sorry. 	Hillebrand 2006 Unfiltered Chardonnay Chardonnay fans should relish this Hillebrand Chard. Barrel fermented, aged 12 months in 60% new French oak (the rest a combination of 2-3 and 4 year old oak). Only 30% of the wine went through a malolactic fermentation to soften it – that way it retains a fair bit of acidity on the palate. The smells are typical barreled Chardonnay: buttery, oaky and vanilla – the palate shows good finesse and nice fruit: apple, vanilla, butterscotch and nutmeg, along with a softened-bite of acidity.
