	Vineland Estates 2005 Cabernet Franc Reserve The beauties of the 2005 vintage are starting to come out. Sure there have been some great wines already, but the reserve quality monster-wines are now being released and should tide us over until the monsters from ’07 start rearing their heads. This Franc spent 24 months in new French oak and there is so much going on (complexity) that I may not be able to fit it all into one review – but I’ll try. 	Sanson Estate 2004 Barn Cat Red Dennis Sanson is an interesting fellow – I’m not just saying that because I've met him, I say it based on the wines he produces. I would have to say he makes some of the best in the Lake Erie North Shore region, and some of the most innovative. Take this Barn Cat blend, named for the annual litter(s) of kittens that appear in his barn: 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and a dollop of Pinot Noir (10%). 	Tawse Winery 2006 Vintners Reserve Cabernet Franc I feel sorry for anyone who hasn’t caught the Ontario Cabernet Franc bandwagon. This grape is ours, the one we should be showcasing to the world, and we could start quite happily with this ’06 model. You’d think that in a wet harvest Franc would not do very well, but surprisingly it ripened properly and it’s showing very well right now. 	Tawse Winery 2006 Pinot Noir The grapes for this wine come from 5 different vineyards. You’re probably wondering – if you’re a fan of Tawse Pinot – why they didn’t make vineyard specific Pinot this year, the answer my friend is simple: although 2006 was a great growing season it was a very wet harvest and once the grapes made it inside the winery they were indistinguishable one batch to the next, so instead of faking it Tawse put’em all together, lowered the price and created a single Pinot from the 2006 vintage.
