Fielding Estate 2007 Riesling

Fielding has done an excellent job over their relatively short history of establishing themselves as a Riesling house - from their semi-dry, dry and sparkling. This 2007 edition Riesling continues their outstanding performance with this grape with a lovely nose and palate: lots of peach, apple and floral notes dominate both taste and smell. Another winner from the Field ... sit this one down for a few years watch it really develop. Price: $16.00...

Fielding Estate Winery 2007 Unoaked Chardonnay

I often wonder why wines that are clearly meant for summer are released later in the fall or, aghast, in the winter. But then I try them and realize, who cares when it came out, I’m just glad it did. Sprucewood Shores 2007 Pinot Gris

The perfect summer patio wine would go something like this: a nose of peaches, pears and apples – which you would have no trouble sitting and sniffing all day. The palate wouldn’t seem as sweet as the nose predicts, in fact, it would pull a vanishing act from all those sweet smells and offer up crisp refreshment instead, like grassy and lemony notes. Finish it off with a honeydew melon rind finish and voila, wine for summer. Price: $14.95...

Organized Crime Winery 2007 Riesling

My first conscious experience drinking an Andrzej Lipinski wine was a 2004 Semi-Dry Riesling from Fielding – it was a sublime experience and made me stand up and take notice of this winemaker. Now, some 4 years later, I have noticed him again. Not that Andrzej has been quiet; he has been making wine for a number of wineries for the past few years, especially new projects, like the Organize Crime winery in Beamsville. He first got them noticed by winning an Ontario Wine Award medal for their 2...
