	Fielding Estate 2004 Riesling Semi-Dry This semi-dry riesling has great sweet-melon smells on the nose – but in the mouth it is something different. It starts off sweet (but not overly so) and ends with a tart refreshing finish: best described as “pink grapefruit cocktail”. Just to make sure we were not led astray by our surroundings, or our considerable tasting, we retried this wine on a few occasions … each time, this wine performed remarkably - especially during that heatwave stretch of 33 degree weather that befell Toronto in m... 	Unity Wine 2002 Chardonnay At first we thought it a little closed, but then again maybe it was just too cold (note to self: look at that fridge setting) … as the wine warmed, there was an enjoyable fruitiness along with citrus smells to the wine – the taste was exactly as the nose had predicted citrus with definite lemons and limes, which we found refreshing in a chardonnay. 	Colchester Ridge Estate Winery 2006 Gewurztraminer It’s nice to be able to find a gewürztraminer that’s tasty at a reasonable price. Many I have come across this year have had their prices north of the $16 mark and even more above $18. CREW has made a nice gewurzt at a price worthy of a 2 to 4 bottle pick-up. The nose is laced with a fruity, spicy, rose water and floral sweetness – many of the typical aromas you’ll find in gewurzt. 	Smith and Wilson Estate Wines 2006 Viognier While some yahoo out in Niagara believes he can get $49 for his 2006 Viognier, let me tell you there’s a better option for much less money; the one drawback is its further away from Niagara – not such a drawback if you’re in the area or willing to make the drive. In Blenheim, 50km east of Leamington, lies Smith and Wilson, and they make the only Viognier in the Lake Erie North Shore area, from their own 4 year old vines. 	Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery 2006 Pinot Gris Summer looks good with wines like this to sip on in the backyard with your feet dangling in the Mr. Turtle Pool. The nose is citrusy-grapefruit and peachy; the palate mirrors the nose with some laid back acidity, making this one soft and easy with just a touch of sweetness (1) and a good lengthy finish.
