	Mastronardi Winery 2007 Cabernet Rosé The odd part about rosé is that it is made from red grapes and can have smells and tastes usually associated with white grapes. This Mastronardi Rosé is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes and has some of the most interesting smells. The nose has so much going on: apples, cherry, hints of strawberry, a tropical nuance (akin to kiwis) and the sweet smell of banana chips(?). 	Thirty Bench 2007 Pinot Meunier Rosé Pinot Meunier is the third grape of Champagne, following Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It’s also a grape that Thirty Bench planted on their property over 15 years ago on a whopping 1.5 acres … so this wine definitely qualifies as “small lot” – only 232 cases are made. Winemaker Natalie Reynolds started making this as a Rosé a few years back; I tried the ’05 and it was wonderful, this ’07 is even better. 	Muscedere Vineyards 2007 Rosé To many, rosé is the equivalent of white Zinfandel – sweet, candied fruit smells and flavours. And while white Zinfandel has its place, that is not what rosé is all about. Take the Muscedere version, “it’s more European in style,” I am told by Rob, winemaker – meaning it’s dry – it’s actually considered a one, but a very low one, and here’s why. 	Strewn 2007 Cabernet Rosé If you’re looking for an easy drinking, throw down the gullet, party pleaser rosé, well you’ve found it. First, there’s the no nonsense price ($12.95) you can buy it by the case and pull it out when friends pop by to sit in the backyard.
