	Huff Estates 2006 South Bay Rosé If I told you this wine was a zero on the sugar code you’d never believe me. If I told you it was made from red grapes you’d scoff. And if I told you there’s not a drop of Sauvignon Blanc in it you’d call me a liar. But all three of these statements are true. The grapes for this wine come from the highly touted South Bay Vineyard, which is located in the south-east corner of the County. 	The Grange of PEC 2006 Trumpour’s Mill Rosé Seems like this year everybody is jumping on the rosé bandwagon. A friend of mine, who makes wine for a living, explained that his winery didn't get to pick one of its varieties in time because of the sudden and persistent rains that befell the 2006 harvest; therefore some of the fruit wasn't in pristine condition for making high impact reds, so the thinking became “why not try a rose”. 	Creekside Estates Winery 2006 Cabernet Rosé Only 400 cases of this bronze medal winning wine (2007 Ontario Wine Awards) were made. A blend of red grapes including Shiraz (14%), Franc (26%) and Sauv (60%) that were allowed a few hours of skin contact to give them that nice rosé colour. The nose says strawberry, while the palate says dryer, with citrus, cranberry and pomegranate; chilled, this is really a beauty of a summer sipper with enough tart acidity to cut the summer heat and quench your thirst. 	Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery 2006 Rosé Lately, I have been trying quite a few dry rosés and yes they have their place with food, but sometimes you wanna pick up something on the sweet side, kick up your heels and just enjoy. This Sprucewood wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes, has the nose of tart strawberries and red plums and the flavours of raspberries and sweet cherries. 	Pillitteri Estate Winery 2006 Bianco (White) Merlot The first time I tried a “White Merlot” was many years ago and was made by Magnotta … what we’re talking about here is a pinky wine made exclusively from Merlot grapes, it makes a great splash around the pool or backyard when it’s hot and humid (decks and docks work too). This refreshing sipper is a one on the sugar code, but the nose would have you believe it’s even sweeter: cotton-candy, raspberry and banana are present at the forefront … while the flavours are mainly strawberry with a sweet...
