Coyote’s Run 2007 Black Paw Chardonnay

Coyote’s Run started this whole Black Paw / Red Paw thing with their Pinot Noirs. They noticed that their vineyard had a distinctive soil division, part of the soil was black clay, the other part was red clay. To view this cool diversion from wine, here’s an interesting little thing to do when you visit the winery: if you look out the window, or stand on the deck, in early spring or late fall, before the grapes and foliage obscure the view, you can actually make out the proverbial “line in th...

Inniskillin 2006 Reserve Series Chardonnay

Stratus - WildAss 2005 White

Wildass is the second label for Stratus winery. For a winery like Stratus second label wines are those that just didn’t make the final blending cut. They went through the same barrel aging and meticulous work in the vineyard – just when all was tasted and blended they were the leftovers. This one is soft on the nose and on the palate, lots of tree fruit with a pleasing taste, it won’t stand up for the length of time the big gun will (see Stratus White) but it’s something to drink while you’re...
