	D’Angelo Estate Winery 2006 Iced Foch You’ll see very few Marechal Foch reviews on my site. The reason is that very few really impress me. Here I am looking at this half-bottle of Foch Ice and wondering what the heck Sal D’Angelo was thinking. My intrepid curiosity got the best of me and I decided to give it a go. 	Pillitteri 2006 i Baci Vidal Icewine The i Baci line was developed as a cellared in Canada (blended from foreign and domestic wines) brand with a funky, eye-catching picture on the label. But a true icewine cannot be a blend with foreign product, hence this is the only VQA product to bear the i Baci label. A very nice, well made icewine – consistent with Pillitteri’s other icewines. 	Stratus 2007 Red Icewine A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah that has a striking nose of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry with a hint of rhubarb pie. It’s full-on red fruit bowl in the mouth - so delectable and luscious you won't be able to stop sipping. 	Huff Estates 2007 First Frost This is an odd little wine, more in the way it’s made than the way it tastes. Two-thirds of the Vidal grapes from this vineyard are harvested at the regular time and made into a bone-dry white wine; then in January the remaining third of the grapes are picked when they are raisin like and the sugar content is around 45 brix. The juice is then squeezed out of these pseudo-raisins and added to the bone-dry wine – kicking the sweetness up to about a three and taking the alcohol back by a point or... 	Ice House Northern Ice S.L.H. Vidal 2006 I love a late harvest wine, I have been calling them “poor man’s icewine” since I tasted my very first from Hillebrand back in 1993. The reason is simple, the price, as you will notice, is more than half of what you’ll pay for a good icewine, while the sugars are almost cut in half too – but the flavours are all there.
