Lost & Found: Coyotes Run 2010 Five Mile Red

21 Jul 2014

Found April 2014

If you were smart enough to pick yourself up a case or two of Coyote's Run value red called Five Mile during the selling of the 2010 vintage, you have a real find on your hands.  I've always found it surprising that the folks at the Coyote would put the much prized Pinot Noir grape into this blend but it does seem to work.  In the '10 the Pinot really does shine thru giving the wine a certain elegance along with plenty of cherry, tobacco, hints of plum and white pepper; there's also a touch of the sour cherry (that Pinot is known for) that pokes its way through.  The wine comes across as nice and light with a medium mouth-feel and an easy drinking nature.  Can't believe it sold for a mere $16, it's drinking very well right now and should stay that way for the next 3 or so.  Lost & Found Rating:  Treasure
