Dr Loosen 2004 Dr. L Riesling (Germany)

26 Jan 2015

(December 2, 2014) ... Dr L from Loosen Bros is a well made, value priced Riesling.  Over the years I think it has gotten sweeter in style, which makes me a fan of these older versions, if they'll age ... Which is why I pulled out this 2004 version, to see if it would do just that.  For a ten year old, under $15 bottle this wine is exceptional.  Notes of peach on the nose with tangerine on the palate, there's also a lovely mineral sensation and great balancing acidity.  As for its age, except for the neon yellow color of the wine when poured from the bottle and sitting in glass, the wine barely shows its ten years. What I truly loved was the pleasant lingering finish with just a touch of sweetness, so well balanced with that seam of acidity, plus there's the hint of tart green apple that also shows up on the finish.  Good job Doctor, pretty sure I have a younger version of this wine around here someplace, I'm gonna have to locate that one and try it as well.
