Closson Chase is a Pinot - Chardonnay winery, period the end, those are the grapes that have made Prince Edward County famous. That does not mean they stick to grapes grown only in the County - they purchase grapes from a variety of vineyards within Ontario and create single vineyard wines. This Chardonnay comes from the Kevin Watson vineyard in Niagara-on-the-Lake. There`s a real restrained use of oak here, soft butter and coffee toffee notes on the nose - very interesting, unique and inviting. The palate is full of buttered toffee laden popcorn with roasted coffee and a caramel linger; lovely finish that`s dry, pleasant and ultimately drinkable. Price: $39.95 - Rating: ****1/2
