Aged 6 months in oak this hot vintage 2012 does have some “Shiraz” character but by all rights, because we’re here in Ontario, should be called Syrah; and I for one wish the few remaining hold-out wineries would take the hint and stop misleading consumers. I’ll put my soapbox away long enough to tell you there’s some lovely smoky, black currant and blackberry notes along with a hint of vanilla on the finish. Price: $13.80 - Rating: *** ½+
