I have always been impressed with Daniel Lenko’s honesty, when asked why he produces only a Reserve Riesling he explains that he used to make two kinds but the Reserve out-sold the regular so he now only makes the one kind, and kept the name of the one that sold best. Vines for this wine were planted in 1975 – it’s fresh and refreshing, a gentle, easy drinking version of the grape that lacked acidic punch but more than makes up for it with hints of tangerine and orange peel mixed with apple and pear.
