Tasted 2017 ... Not sure I expected to find a delightful sparkling wine at a little winery positioned at the lower level of Mt. Vesuvius. This bubble is made from the Caprettone grape (aka Coda di Volpe), spends 30 months undergoing secondary fermentation in the very bottle you buy it in (traditional method). The acidity is quite bracing, which helps to give it freshness, but there’s also a nice toasty character with lovely baked apple notes. Rating: *** ½+
