When the vintage years screams "don't make a top tier red" the folks at Hidden Bench listened, and instead they made a top notch rosé. A blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, this pink has everything that a summertime patio sipper should - plus it's incredibly food friendly. A fruit driven nose loaded with strawberries, cherries and raspberries lead to a palate that starts off with those fruit flavours but somewhere in the middle everything changes gears and it dries right out leaving good acidity and a citrus aftertaste behind ... unexpected, delicious and well balanced. This is a restaurant only wine so if you want some you have to ask your local eatery to carry some Hidden Bench wines, or you can try begging for some at the winery door. Price: $16.00 - Rating: ****+
