From the Cellar

Zin and Ludo (California / Italy)

13 Mar 2016

(September 11, 2015) ... A double dose of red tonight: one old, one 'newer', both with a double zero in their number. Kicking things off with a Orestiadi 2008 Ludovico from Sicily, a wine made primary of Nero d'Avola (90%) and the rest is a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon.  I wish I could take credit for lying it down this long, but I believe I recently bought it, hence someone had the sense to age this wine in bottle to a brilliant shine before selling it, and it truly is. A real delight of black cherry and plum - no reason to delve further as it's truly delicious.

And speaking of delicious, an Artezin Wines 2003 Zinfandel is still pretty good but has changed drastically over the past 6 months, when a buddy and I had it and noticeably swooned - today it seems to be a little more dried-out with notes of fig and dried cherry along with cocoa and good acidity - its become more Port-like in both aroma and flavour: what a difference 6 months has made.
