Musque is a funny little variety of Chardonnay ... it`s some kind of mutation, which means somewhere and sometime in the vineyard it became a different grape, a regular occurrence for the fickle and finicky Pinot Noir but not exactly something that happens to the staid Chardonnay grape. This Rosehall version is quite a good representation of what Musque is all about: a nose of floral, peach, mac apple - really sweet aromatically. The palate does not reflect that nasal sweetness, good acidity with a green apple mid-palate and a long lemony finish. The sweet aromatics are a hallmark of Chardonnay Musque - what you do palate-wise is up to the winemaker and Dan Sulivan has done good, thank you very much. Price: $17.95 - Rating: ****
