L'Acadie is a cool climate loving hybrid that was designed for harsh climate areas (such as Canada) to survive the winters; and I would have to say L'Acadie Blanc has done an admirable job in our soils for those willing to try it ... the primary growing region is Eastern Canada, but some intrepid Northern winemakers are also giving it a go. Melon and pear that give both a fresh note and creamy texture, but there also seems to be an almost Sauvignon Blanc-esque note to the finish. There's a small bit of barrel age and fermentation on this one so it should develop some complexity with a little age. Price: $24.00 - Rating: ****
