By Chadsey’s Cairn 2008 Chenin Blanc
Sometimes I stick my price-o-meter in my pocket and just savour a wine. While I believe $24 for a Chenin Blanc is quite a bit of money, I have to also concede that this is one hell of a good wine. Winemaker Vita says the wine is loaded with peach, but me and my 2 compadres differed with her and agreed this wine is all about freshly squeezed lemon juice on the nose and palate. The nose is very quiet, almost muted, when it comes to the lemon, it’s on the palate where it does most of its talking. Lemon drives the flavour profile with a big tart and acidic mouthwatering taste that is such a lovely refreshing wine you’ll find yourself begging for the sun’s heat because you finally have something to quench it. Lots of zing here for the tongue. Price be damed, this one screams to be taken home and enjoyed … happy summer. Price: $24.00 – Rating: *****
