Winemaker Andrezj Lipinski makes dang fine Riesling – year-in, year-out I find myself drawn to the wine he makes from this grape, and this ’08 is no exception. The nose is loaded with lime, apple, white peach and mineral notes; on the palate there’s just a touch of perceived sweetness which is balanced by great acidity (the wine rates a 2 on the sugar code but you’ll have trouble believing that); peach, apple and nice minerality flow across the tongue all leading to a long grapefruit cocktail finish … lip-smackingly good; and with only 10.5% alcohol you’ll be able to smack your lips all afternoon while sipping on this one. Go ahead, you deserve it, take the day off and enjoy. Price: $21.00 – Rating: ****½
