At last years SWOVA vintages tasting I was wowed by Tanya Mitchell's (winemaker) 2009 Chardonnay, so when I was offered the '10 I jumped at the opportunity. The nose seems uni-dimensional, but with enough in there to keep your interest. In the mouth it has a good weight that must be extended lees contact because of the sweet vanilla notes you'll pick up on. Tropical fruits with apple nuances and a crisp refreshing finish. No oak was used, and no malolactic fermentation so this wine keeps its natural acidity and clean mouthfeel. Good price for this delicious incarnation of Chardonnay. Price: $14.95 - Rating: *** 1/2+
