I'll be quite honest with you here: I have no clue what the "Alvar" series of wine signifies for Pelee Island winery, even though I have spoken with winery principals in the past about it. All I do know is that I am pretty impressed with the wines I have tried under this label, and here's yet another one to be impressed with. This Sem-Sauv blend has a rather quiet nose that smells a little grassiness with a hint of cat's pee (that's a good thing), but the palate is all about tropical fruit, grassiness, melon and hints of fresh grapefruit cocktail that runs through the mouth all the way to the finish. Very refreshing. Price: $12.95 - Rating: ****
