This is not your father’s simple, easy-drinking, juicy Merlot, this one has character and complexity to spare. 18 months in French oak seems like a lot, but the wood supports rather than overpowers. Cassis, blueberry skin, blackberry, vanilla and smoke all make an appearance along with a touch of cinnamon – but it’s that combination of dark fruits and subtle spice that really sings amongst the smoky oak.
