Here we see a label change in the Southbrook portfolio – out with the “Whimsy!” and in with the emphasis on single vineyard offerings. This is the first time Southbrook has released a labeled Semillon on its own (though it does have an 11% dollop of Chardonnay), and only 2 barrels (56 cases) were made … nose of beeswax, tangerine and pineapple leads to a palate that’s big on citrus: orange pith, tangerine, lemon zest, lime pith all touched with a hint of spice. All-in-all it’s quite lively with a long finish – I think the folks at the ‘Brook just might be on to something with this beauty; here’s looking forward to more Semillon from Southbrook.
