Here’s an interesting recipe for a 100 case production Syrah. Take 2013 Syrah, put it in 100% American oak (20% new) for 12 months and see what happens … voila! You get a meaty wine with sweet fruit a la cherry and vanilla that is surprisingly beautiful and gentle and so easy going down, it might surprise you how quickly this bottle disappears (so buy two) … there’s’ even a slight cigar box note to the finish and no aggressive tannins – quite delicious.
