“They” say 2012 was the year to make Cabernet Sauvignon, and after tasting this bruiser from Peller I’d agree … this Cabernet was in barrel for 18 months in a mix of 55% French and 45% American oak of which 65% was new – that’s a whole whack of new oak, but the fruit sucked it in bathing in it like a debutante in jewels and furs: mocha, black cherry with hints of violets and vanilla – there’s a sweet fruit sensation upon entry where cassis and black cherry rule the roost, but silky tannins and rich mouthfeel keep things moving along. You should be enjoying this one over the next 10+ years. Price: $47.00 – Rating: **** ½
