Grand Red is the pinnacle of Trius winemaking, and in 2012 it really was just that: 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 27% Cabernet Franc are sourced from Carlton and Clark Farms (you’ll recognize these from Trius Showcase bottlings), they are fermented and aged separately for 12 months, then blended and put back into barrel for an additional 6 months. The layers in this wine are incredible with the fruit and spice playing well together along with some intense mocha and cherry then a little smoke makes its way in there too; this is one to lie down for a decade or more.  Price: $55.00 – Rating: **** ½
