Derek Barnett is at it again, this year he made three Chardonnays and as is typical he’s pulled out some Canadian oak to do one of those Chardonnays in. 50% new and 50% third use for 10 months, he’s made a limited 100 case production that is the all-star of his 2016 line-up. Aromas of coconut, peach and pineapple lure you in before grabbing the palate with full-on white and yellow fruit, a la apple, peach and pineapple (again), with an elegant vanilla-pineapple-cream finish with surprising, but incredibly balanced, acidity. Nobody does Canadian oak better then Barnett and he proves it again. This one is a 5-7 year hold, but I bet you find it hard not to drink it now.
