The Private Reserve in warm to hot vintages has always been a keeper, the ’15 sold out quickly so now we’re onto the 2016 version and it shows the makings of being able to go the distance. All Four Mile Creek fruit aged 11 months in a mix of French (80%) and American (20%) oak … the long harvest allowed the fruit to hang and ripen to its fullest potential resulting in a very tobacco, herbal and well-spiced wine with smoked-raspberry, hints of cedar and pretty cigar box notes on the finish – let it sit and come together and the fruit will soon rise to the fore … or if you’re impatient, decant a few hours.
