This wild-ferment Franc from the newest virtual in Ontario is quite a lovely wine: earthy, tobacco, dark fruit, spice, smoke … and that’s just the nose – palate shows notes of spiced-plum, black raspberry, violets and even brings in some of those previously mentioned notes from the nose. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered and should have helped in its age-ability, it’s a I’d love to have revisited in 5-10 years – sadly the producer decided to use a “plastic” closure so the lifespan of this wine has been cut in half ... that plastic cork is a killer.
