The home Vineyard Chard is always the highlight in the portfolio, especially as Glenn Symons’ has figured out his style and the method in which to make it: one-third barrel, two-thirds steel tank always full malo and the barrels are of the 500L variety (1 new / and one 3rd use) so is does not impart too much oaky / smoky hide that delicate fruit. The freshness is forefront with good apple, pear, melon and mineral notes all with a round, lush mouthfeel, good balance and medium-length finish – there’s also a nice depth of flavour from the full 12 months lees contact (both barrel and in the steel).
