Taste it Again / Lost & Found

On occasion, I’ll take a wine I like and put it away in a “special box” for a few years to see how it will age … below you will read happened to those wines. On the other hand, there are wines that get “lost” in my wine cellar with nary a review ever written - some have turned into golden Treasures, others supreme Trash and then there are those that fall somewhere in-between (Tolerable). We’ll look at those here too. (New wines are being added all the time so keep coming back):

Lost & Found: Creekside 2010 Shiraz

06 Sep 2014

Found July 2014

This is from one of the last years that Creekside was still using the "Shiraz" moniker on the label, even they knew they weren't making Shiraz here in Ontario, but old habits die hard.  From the hot 2010 vintage and with a pedigree for ageing this wine, by all rights, is not very old; but the truth of the matter is it's right in its drinking wheelhouse now with lots of smoky and meaty characteristics making it taste more like what it truly is ... Syrah.  Lost & Found Rating:  Treasure

Taste It Again: Colaneri 2009 "Corposo"

06 Sep 2014

Click here to read the original review from May 2011

(Re-Tasted July 25, 2014) ... If you're lucky enough to still have a bottle (or two) of the 2009 Colaneri Cabernet it is time to pull it out and pop the cork, because right now, it is at such a beautiful spot in its lifespan that you'll want to experience it for yourself  Forget the nose, if you can, with all its alluring dark fruit aromas and concentrate on the palate, where you'll discover smooth plum and cherry with hints of chocolate, with an absolute delight of silky smooth goodness across the tongue.  Don't hesitate another minute, if you have some in your cellar now's the time to grab out a bottle and try it, I bet you can't stop at just one.
